Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University

Nelsonmandella

Port Elizabeth, otherwise known as the “friendly city” or simply PE, is South Africa’s fifth largest city. Life in PE generally revolves around the beach, where ocean sports rule: swimming, snorkeling, surfing, bodysurfing, windsurfing, jet skiing, fishing, boating, and scuba diving are all readily available. PE’s Humewood Beach has achieved international Blue Flag status and the city is a nature lover’s paradise, with beautiful parks, gardens, and a number of wildlife reserves in the area. The main campus of Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University enjoys a unique location in the Summerstrand section of PE, four miles from the city center, in a nature reserve surrounded by the sea and coastal dunes. NMMU is an engaged and people-centered university that serves the needs of its diverse communities by contributing to sustainable development through excellent academic courses, research and service delivery. NMMU is one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse universities in southern Africa with students studying in seven faculties across the university.
