Queen Mary is in the heart of London’s East End where students from all over the city come to enjoy the trendy pubs, bars, and clubs of neighboring Shoreditch and Hoxton Square. Nearby Brick Lane, famous for its curry houses, is home to unique second-hand clothing shops and popular clubs. The site of the 2012 London Olympic Village is just a few miles away and the college is a short walk to two Underground (Tube) stations, providing easy access to the social, cultural, historic and academic attractions of London. Queen Mary, University of London has an international reputation for quality, achievement and research success across its Faculties of Art,Engineering and Mathematical Sciences, Law and Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Medicine and Dentistry. The fully enclosed campus is based at Mile End, about two miles from St Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower of London. The main campus building dates from 1887, but the sixteen-acre site consists mainly of modern, purpose-built buildings which house the five faculties and administrative offices, and include the Great Hall, a new library, bank, bookshop, health center, student residences and the Student Union.
At Queen Mary most subject areas are open to study abroad students and you can choose to concentrate in one area or choose modules from up to four different subject areas as scheduling allows. All departments offer pre-registration and there is seldom any problem in getting into any required classes. Please note that there will still be the opportunity to change classes in most departments, space permitting, during module registration at orientation. The exception is English and Drama in which all modules are closed after pre-registration. Not surprising as Queen Mary is ranked in the top 10 in the UK for English & Theatre.
