The University of KwaZulu-Natal brings together the teaching and research strengths of two major tertiary institutions in the province. The University of KwaZulu-Natal is situated in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, and consists of two centers: one in the coastal city of Durban, and one in Pietermaritzburg some 45 miles inland. Durban is KwaZulu-Natal's largest city and offers an intriguing blend of Eastern, Western and African cultures. Within a stone's throw of the office blocks, theaters, shopping malls and cafés of the business center is the Indian Ocean, lined with sand beaches and palm trees.

    • Prefered application deadlines are: October 15th for Spring semester and April 15th for Fall semester. Call for availability after these dates.
    • At the time of application a student should normally have attained a minimum of a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and hold Sophomore, Junior or Senior standing.
    • interstudy students can combine courses offered in different departments and faculties as scheduling allows.
    • Science department spaces are limited; early application is recommended.
    • Music department courses require an audition upon arrival to place students into performance courses.
    • Standard full-time credit load: 14-16 U.S. credits per semester. The total number of courses will vary depending on the credit weighting of each course.
    • Students are pre-registered for courses prior to arrival; final registration takes place on-site.
    • Students should note that cross-campus enrollment is not permitted; interstudy students enroll at either the Howard College or Pietermaritzburg campus.
