SUMMER IN SOUTH AFRICA WITH ARRIVAL EXCURSION IN JOHANNESBURG!!
Durban is South Africa’s third largest city and one of the main tourist destinations in Southern Africa. The city offers an intriguing blend of cultures that that reflect the Zulu, Indian, and Western heritage of the KwaZulu-Natal province. Within a stone’s throw of office blocks, theaters, shopping malls, and cafés is the Indian Ocean and Durban’s “Golden Mile” with its soft, sandy, swimming beaches, great surfing, and warm weather all year round. Durban also has an active nightlife where you can enjoy hip hop and house sounds at clubs like Tilt and 330 or restaurants like Joe Cool’s with weekend DJ’s and big screen TV’s for rugby and soccer enthusiasts. Interstudy's summer program offers a unique opportunity to visit Johannesburg and the famous Soweto township before the start of your academic program.
The Howard College campus of the University of KwaZulu-Natal is situated in an environmental conservancy with lush gardens full of indigenous flora and fauna. Set above the city with spectacular views of the bay, port, and downtown Durban, the campus is just a ten-minute drive from the coast. As a student in the four and a half week summer program at UKZN, you will participate in a Service Learning course and then select one of two other courses offered for a total of 8 U.S. credits. Course choices include: Zulu Language and Culture, or Culture and Diversity in the Rainbow Nation.
