Title: Student Services Intern



Provisional Internship Description and Responsibilities:

The goal of this internship position is to expose you to the day-to-day operations of a study abroad provider from the Student Services perspective. By the end of your internship, you should have a working knowledge of both the operational and programmatic elements of a study abroad organization including pre-departure preparations, and an introduction to student advising and admissions. You will be working side by side with staff members who are willing to train and mentor you in a friendly and open environment.

Your duties may include, but are not limited to:

•    Administering programs and enrolling and corresponding with prospective students 
•    Organizing study abroad resources, including printed material in the resource center and information on the web site in coordination with other Interstudy staff. This includes research of our programs for specific majors and courses of interest 
•    Expanding web based resources for prospective students to facilitate enrollment and increase participation rates.
•    Supporting senior programming and financial staff members as necessary with data entry, processing payments, and disseminating information to interested students  
•    Processing transcripts of student coursework  
•    Conducting special projects and research  

Required Skills/Traits:

Works well in an environment with frequent interruptions; flexible; ability to multitask; professional and confident telephone manner; respectful of confidential information; strong writing skills; organized; team-oriented; takes initiative and receives direction well; highly computer savvy; experience with database management (FilemakerPro)

 

Preferred:

 

Study Abroad experience; may have specific interest in South Africa, Botswana, Britain, or Ireland; Social Media experience (Facebook, blogs, Flickr, YouTube); University office experience (i.e. work study)
